About Pro-Duffers
Northern Virginia Pro-Duffers
Welcome and thank you for visiting our site. The purpose of this organization is to promote and encourage a greater interest in the game of golf, related social, civic and charitable activities by its members, chapters and the public.
Pro-Duffers was formed about fifty years ago by a group of golfers from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, known as the “Del Val” Golf Club. They contacted several of their former Howard University classmates who lived in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, and expressed an interest in engaging in some friendly golf matches – area against area. The organization spawned by that original outreach has grown to 15 chapters nationwide.
The Northern Virginia (NOVA) chapter was formed January 31, 2004 by some members of the Washington D. C. Chapter living in Northern Virginia. The idea to form the NOVA chapter was proposed by Bob Frazier. The Chartering members of the chapter were:
Bob Frazier, Don Brown, Fred Blanchard, George Lovelace, Fred Adams, Roland Braswell, Bernie Coston, Dr. Richard Clark, Walt Gooley, Wilburn Hardison, Dale Hogg, Dr. Akin Oduolowan, Al Rosier, Daryl Savage, Leroy Spivey, John Thompson, Don Tindall, Victor Thornton, Tommy Walker, Bill Walker, and Chet Wilson
